The Kite Solidarity Association is a Swiss non-profit organization that empowers underprivileged Brazilian children through education, and sports
Kick-off: Our journey began unexpectedly in 2023 with a spontaneous donation of a broken kite in the remote fishing village of Bitupitá. Inspired by the heartwarming response, we established our first youth center there. Our main focus is on education, providing access to both in-person and online courses in English, Portuguese, Mathematics, Law, and Finance
Growth: In early 2024, we partnered with social programs in Cumbuco and Cauipe, and now have over 70 children enrolled.
Kitegirls: We are proud to report that, with a special emphasis on encouraging girls involvement, we have attained an over 45% enrollment rate.

Discover the challenges
In Northeast Brazil, especially in Ceara, economic inequality restricts children’s access to sports and education. Soccer fields are scarce due to dry weather, limiting play opportunities. Kitesurfing offers hope, but the very costly equipment, further inflated by high import taxes, are a major obstacle.
Kitesurfing tourists visiting Ceara are often unaware that the region offers excellent wind conditions for the sport, but very limited opportunities for the local communities. Greater support and awareness for local initiatives are crucial, ensuring that tourists contribute to local communities, even if it’s just by donating an old or even broken kite. These donations could provide children with the chance to experience the joy of kitesurfing and potentially open doors to future opportunities in the sport.
